The Central Election Commission (CEC) has ruled to strike Yuri Esipenko from the candidate list of the political party union "Harmony" for the Saeima elections in the Riga electoral district, according to the LETA news agency. The decision was based on the fact that Esipenko is not a Latvian citizen.

Under Latvian law, all candidates for the Saeima must be Latvian citizens. This requirement is strictly enforced, and the CEC regularly verifies candidates' eligibility. During the verification process, it was found that Esipenko did not meet the citizenship requirement.

The decision takes immediate effect, and Esipenko's name will be removed from all election materials. The "Harmony" party will need to make the necessary amendments to its candidate list.
