Nature Concert Hall returns August 15 at former Sloka paper mill with "Invasivus!" programme

Latvia's Nature Concert Hall (Dabas koncertzāle) resumes its season on August 15 at the former paper mill in Sloka, hosting a science-and-music event called "Invasivus!" dedicated to Latvia's invasive species. This year's event also marks the venue's 20th anniversary.

Schedule and venue

Gates will open to visitors at 20:00, with entry organised from Dzērvju iela 4. Before the concert begins, attendees can visit science workshops and laboratories created in cooperation with general partner CleanR Grupa, supporter LAFLORA, and nature-education partner the Nature Conservation Agency.

At 21:30, an informative segment will begin on stage, featuring biologist Dr. Zigmunds Orlovskis discussing invasive species alongside actor Vilis Daudziņš. Around 22:00, as the sun sets, the musical portion of the programme will start together with the venue's musicians. The event is scheduled to run until 23:45.

Getting there and transport

Visitors arriving by car are asked to park along Slokas iela and nearby roadsides, allowing for a short walk to the venue. For those using public transport, an additional train service between Sloka and Riga has been arranged, departing at 00:45.

What to bring

Organisers recommend dressing for the weather and bringing insect repellent, since the event takes place near a river. A sturdy blanket or a small camping chair for sitting on the lawn is also useful, along with a flashlight for the walk back. Visitors may bring baskets with snacks and non-alcoholic drinks, which will not be inspected at ticket control. Due to the specific layout of the venue this time, attendees are asked to leave pets at home, with the exception of legally recognised assistance dogs.
