Daily alcohol tests introduced for some Latvian police officers after Priekule tragedy

In an interview with Latvijas Radio on Wednesday, Latvian Interior Minister Jānis Dombrava (National Alliance) announced that some police officers will be subject to daily alcohol tests as a preventive measure following the recent tragedy in Priekule.
The tests will be conducted each morning before the start of duty. The exact number of officers affected and the implementation date have not yet been disclosed. This step is part of broader efforts to enhance oversight within the police force after the incident in Kurzeme.
