Dallas Stars extend contract with veteran goaltender Casey DeSmith
NHL club Dallas Stars have agreed a new two-year, five-million-dollar contract with 35-year-old goaltender Casey DeSmith. The new deal takes effect after the current season concludes.

The Dallas Stars announced on Wednesday that they have extended their agreement with goaltender Casey DeSmith. The new contract runs for two years, with the goaltender set to earn a total of five million US dollars, roughly 4.4 million euros. The deal will take effect once the current season ends.
Recent performance
Over the past two seasons with the Stars, DeSmith has appeared in 57 games, winning 29 of them, three of which were shutouts. On average he has conceded 2.5 goals per game while posting a save percentage of 91.1%.
Career statistics
Before joining the Stars, DeSmith also played for the Vancouver Canucks and Pittsburgh Penguins. Across eight NHL seasons he has appeared in 220 games overall, recording 99 wins. His career averages stand at 2.74 goals allowed per game and a 91% save percentage, along with 13 shutout victories. In the Stanley Cup playoffs, he has made five appearances, conceding an average of 2.37 goals while posting a 92.5% save percentage.

The Stars will begin their new NHL season during the night heading into Saturday, Latvian time, hosting the St. Louis Blues at home.
