Latvian singer Dana Grīnbauma has released her first solo song, “Sapņi” (“Dreams”). With it, she begins her career as an independent artist. She has previously appeared in various musical projects and in the band Šķembas, described as the first all-female heavy rock group in Latvia.

The song is about finding the courage to overcome fear and doubt and to take a step closer to realising one's plans. Her support team describes it as the fulfilment of one of Dana's musical dreams. Stylistically, it could be called a rock ballad, or simply a lyrical song.

How the song came about

The lyrics were written several years ago, but according to the singer, only now did it feel like the right moment to turn them into music. “Each of us cherishes a dream in our heart that we are afraid to let out into the world, but it is important to win the inner battle against fear, insecurity and doubt, and to rely on yourself and your own strength,” she says.

The song was created in collaboration with musician Jānis Puzaks, who is also its co-author. The arrangement was made by Egons Kronbergs, known for the band The Hobos, and the track was recorded in his studio.

Dana says the most memorable moment of the creative process was in the recording studio, when she felt the composition blossom and come to life. In her view, it was unforgettable to see one of her dreams come true.

A video for the song has also been released.
