Dana White credits Eddie Hearn for keeping Fury-Joshua fight in the UK
UFC president Dana White has credited promoter Eddie Hearn with ensuring the Tyson Fury v Anthony Joshua heavyweight boxing fight is held in the UK, while saying he is "bored" of their feud.
Dana White, president of the mixed martial arts organisation UFC and head of the new boxing promotion Zuffa Boxing, has credited promoter Eddie Hearn with making sure the heavyweight boxing fight between Britain's Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua takes place in the UK. White also said he is "bored" of his ongoing feud with Hearn, who promotes Joshua. He made the comments to Steve Bunce on the BBC's 5 Live Boxing with Bunce podcast.
Where and when
The fight is set for the Principality Stadium in Cardiff. The event begins on 11 December, although Fury and Joshua are not expected to enter the ring until the early hours of 12 December. It will be shown on Netflix.
The dispute over the venue
White and Saudi Arabian organisers had wanted the bout held in the United States, with New York's Madison Square Garden among the venues pursued. Joshua and Hearn refused to give way on their contractual right to stage the fight in the UK. "You've got to give credit to Eddie for really grinding that and making sure that it happened in the UK," White said.
Doubts over the event
There had been doubts about whether the fight would go ahead because of a dispute over White's role in promoting it. The event has been presented as a collaboration between The Ring, linked to Saudi boxing powerbroker Turki Alalshikh, and White. Hearn has been feuding publicly with White since Zuffa Boxing launched earlier this year, and said White's involvement in the fight "ain't happening".
To ease concerns about the fight, Fury and Joshua held a news conference on 30 September.
