Denmark warns Russia may launch limited attacks on NATO in coming months

Denmark's Defence Intelligence Service has warned that Russia could carry out limited attacks against NATO member states in the coming months. According to the Danish assessment, such actions would not indicate that Russia is prepared for full-scale confrontation with the alliance, but rather would represent an escalation of hybrid warfare tactics.

Two objectives

The intelligence service assesses that any limited attacks would serve two purposes. First, they would divert European military and political resources away from supporting Ukraine. Second, they would help exploit and deepen existing divisions among NATO member states.

Danish intelligence emphasized that this would represent an intensification of hybrid warfare strategy rather than preparation for open military conflict with NATO as a whole.

The warning comes as the war in Ukraine continues and Western support for Kyiv remains one of the central security questions for Europe. The Danish service's statements suggest that Copenhagen and other NATO members are factoring in the possibility that Russia will attempt to test the alliance's unity and response capacity without triggering a direct large-scale military clash.
