Shooting in Denmark during Fire Response Leaves Three Wounded

On July 17, 2026, in the Danish city of Nørresundby, an unknown individual opened fire on police officers who were responding to a fire call.

According to the North Jutland Police, emergency services received a report of a fire at approximately 1:39 PM local time. When firefighters and police arrived at the scene, they were met with gunfire. The suspect fired at the officers, who returned fire.

During the exchange, the suspect, a police officer, and another person were wounded. Police have not officially disclosed their conditions, but North Jutland Police spokesperson Søren Peitersen stated that the situation is serious and that the injuries are severe.

A significant police presence has been deployed to the scene. The causes of the fire and the shooting, as well as the exact circumstances, are currently under investigation. Police are appealing to witnesses to come forward with any information that could assist the investigation.
