Latvia national football team forward Dario Šits will start the upcoming season on loan at Dutch second-tier club Dordrecht, the club announced. The 22-year-old Latvian is owned by Italian Serie A side Parma, but Dordrecht will have an option to buy him.

Last season, Šits played for Atletico Madrid B in the Spanish third division, where he made only 20 appearances due to injuries, mostly coming off the bench. Previously, he was loaned to another Dutch second division side, Helmond, where he scored six goals and provided three assists in 20 games. However, he missed the end of that season due to a knee injury.

In September 2023, while on loan at Italian Serie C club SPAL Ferrara, Šits tore his anterior cruciate ligament in the first match and missed the rest of the season. He joined Parma in 2021 from Metta, making five Serie B appearances over two seasons without scoring. He also played once in the Coppa Italia and mainly featured for the U-19 team in the Primavera 2 A championship.

For the senior Latvia national team, Šits has scored two goals in 12 appearances. He has also represented Latvia at various youth levels. Dordrecht finished tenth in the Dutch second division last season.
