Dašķevičs after sensation: 'It's out of this world, I don't believe it'

FK Auda secured a stunning victory in European qualification on Thursday, defeating a Romanian team 3-2 away in Bucharest. In the fifth minute, captain Artūrs Dašķevičs opened the scoring with a powerful strike from outside the box, leaving the opposing goalkeeper with no chance.

After the match, Dašķevičs admitted he struggled to comprehend the result: 'It's out of this world, yes. I don't believe what just happened yet, even though I see the score is 3-2.' He emphasized that the team did not adjust their approach and stuck to their usual style of dominating possession and pressing high. 'After five or ten minutes, we realised it was possible, and we scored three goals,' he added.

According to Transfermarkt, the opponent's squad is valued four times higher than Auda's, but the Latvian side showed character. Dašķevičs left the pitch in the 67th minute, and the remaining time from the bench was stressful: 'The last minutes were very stressful, I shouted a lot – now I have no voice left. The opponents had chances, but today Nils Puriņš was very convincing in goal.'

'Of course, our job is not done yet. The second leg at Skonto Stadium will be very, very tough. The coach told us to start recovering now because in a few days we have a match against Daugavpils, which is also very important for us,' the footballer concluded.
