Daugavpils Municipal Cameras Catch Drunk Moped Rider Driving on Sidewalk
In Daugavpils, a municipal video surveillance operator spotted a moped rider committing multiple traffic violations, including driving on the sidewalk and without a helmet. Suspected of drunk driving, the offender was handed over to the State Police.

Operators of the Daugavpils municipal video surveillance system noticed a moped rider traveling on the sidewalk, not wearing a helmet, ignoring red traffic lights, and driving without a state registration plate. The operators suspected the rider might be under the influence of alcohol.
The nearest available municipal police unit was immediately dispatched to the scene. Before the officers arrived, the moped rider continued his journey and repeatedly violated traffic rules, but was soon caught and stopped.
When speaking with the man, born in 1987, police officers detected a strong smell of alcohol. His behavior also indicated possible intoxication. During the conversation, it turned out that the moped had been recently purchased and was not yet registered. The man admitted to having consumed alcohol before driving.
The moped rider was handed over to the State Police for further procedural actions.
