Daugavpils Hold Riga to Draw, Juggling Their Hopes of Retaining Latvian Champion Title
In the 20th round of the Latvian Football Premier League, Daugavpils played a 0-0 draw at home against league leaders Riga, ending the visitors' six-game winning streak.

On Thursday, in the 20th round match, Daugavpils footballers held Riga to a goalless draw at their home ground, marking Riga's first dropped points after six consecutive victories. Both teams created several chances but failed to find the net.
In the first half, the visitors dominated possession, but the home side also threatened Riga's goal, where goalkeeper Frenks Orols made some key saves. In the second half, Riga again controlled the play, but Daugavpils' defense stood firm. Towards the end of regular time, Muhameds Badamosi put the ball into Daugavpils' net, but the referee immediately flagged for offside, disallowing the goal. During stoppage time, Riga continued to push for a winner, but Daugavpils goalkeeper Jānis Beks kept a clean sheet.
The draw means Riga, with 49 points from 20 matches, are level on points with RFS, who have played one game fewer. Daugavpils sits in sixth place with 24 points. Earlier on Thursday, Grobiņa also played a scoreless draw at home against Auda.
The Premier League season is played in four rounds, totaling 36 matchdays, with the final round scheduled for November 8. Last season, Riga won the championship title.
