Daugavpils-region writer Valija Platace to premiere poetry with music at Rogovka slam
Latgale writer, teacher and artist Valija Platace, who won last year's Rogovka poetry slam, will see her poems performed for the first time with music by the band "Kei-Rei" at this year's event on September 12.

Valija Platace, a well-known writer, teacher and artist from the Daugavpils area, is currently featured in two creative projects at once — a photo exhibition and an upcoming poetry performance.
Autumn captured through the lens
Throughout September, her traveling photo exhibition "Rudiņam pīstuov rudums" is on display at the Krāslava library. The exhibition offers visitors a look at Platace's personal view of autumn landscapes, light and mood, captured through her work as a photographer.
From a first win to a new challenge
At the same time, the writer is preparing for a significant moment in her literary path. Last September, Platace took part in the Rogovka poetry evening for the first time and unexpectedly won the poetry slam held there. That success became an encouragement for her to keep writing and performing in front of audiences.
Very soon, on September 12, the Rogovka poetry slam will take place for the fifth time. This year's event brings something new: instead of being simply read aloud, Platace's poems will return to the stage performed by the music band "Kei-Rei." The performance will mark the premiere of her poetry set to music, giving her texts a new sound through rhythm and emotion.
This kind of collaboration shows that Latgale's regional poetry scene continues to evolve, blending the written word with live music and reaching a wider, more diverse audience.
