England's football team suffered a painful semi-final defeat to Argentina, and after the match, several senior players have voiced frustration over the team's tactical approach after taking the lead. According to BBC Sport, at least three experienced footballers have privately complained about how the team was instructed to play the closing stages.

While players acknowledge that defending a lead is a natural instinct, many believe that Tuchel's tactical switches and substitutions exacerbated the team's retreat. Some players feel the team should have been given more license to press the ball and push Argentina away from their goal to relieve pressure on the defenders. One source said: "They went too deep too early."

The discontent creates an intriguing dynamic between players and manager, as Tuchel was appointed precisely to use his tactical acumen to turn England into winners. However, the criticism he has faced since the Argentina defeat is unlikely to go unnoticed.

Football Association chief executive Mark Bullingham continues to back Tuchel, but the FA will review England's performance after Saturday's bronze medal match against France.
