De la Fuente: Proud of this generation after World Cup triumph

Spain's national football team beat Argentina in extra time in the World Cup final, led by Lionel Messi. Spain's head coach Luis de la Fuente, who at 65 became the oldest coach to win the World Cup, expressed pride in his team after the match.

De la Fuente emphasized that the key to success was team unity and the players' values. He noted that people are often surprised that the footballers are not only talented but also good people. According to the coach, this generation grew up with a certain philosophy, remained faithful to it, and improved it. He described the team as a family and stressed that they are outstanding world-class players with extraordinary talent. Spain has not lost in their last 38 matches, a record among European and South American teams.

The coach admitted he was deeply moved and, looking back, sees that this generation of players has won everything. He does not yet know if he will remain in charge for the next World Cup, promising to take time to reflect. De la Fuente said the team is where they want to be and will enjoy this moment.

Ferran Torres scored the golden goal, his only goal of the tournament. He stated that the goal belongs to all the Spanish people, not just one player. Torres felt relief after criticism of his performance throughout the tournament. He said the goal was destined to be the winner, and although the final was tough, Spain played better football.

Several Spanish players received individual awards: Rodri was named best player of the tournament, Unai Simón won the Golden Glove, and Pau Cubarsí was named best young player.
