Jauns.lv has launched a new political debate program called "Tiešs jautājums" ("A Direct Question"), with its first episode focused on migration. The debate featured Interior Minister Jānis Dombrava of the National Alliance and Member of Parliament Kaspars Briškens of the Progressives party.

During the discussion, Dombrava claimed that the Progressives had not stood up against discrimination of young people in the labor market. Briškens firmly disputed this, saying the claim was factually incorrect. He stated that his party had raised the issue in the Saeima, but had chosen not to support certain proposals he described as exaggerated and as pre-election public relations moves rather than substantive policy.

About the debate series

"Tiešs jautājums" is a new debate format from Jauns.lv and Jauns.tv, launched ahead of the upcoming parliamentary elections. Each week, the program brings together two representatives from parties seeking seats in the next Saeima to discuss a topic of current importance to Latvia. An independent expert is also involved behind the scenes to assess the arguments presented by both sides.

The inaugural episode centered on migration policy. The topics raised in the series are expected to be addressed by the new Saeima and government that will be formed following the October 3 elections.
