Deezer: Over Half of Daily Uploads Are AI-Generated

Music streaming platform Deezer has announced that AI-generated tracks now account for more than half of all daily uploads. According to the company, the number of such tracks peaked in June 2026, with an average of 90,000 AI-generated songs uploaded per day.

Deezer has been actively combating fraud and payment dilution related to AI music for nearly two years. The company is now taking additional steps to protect the rights of artists and songwriters. Specifically, it will remove AI-generated tracks that have not been streamed in the past six months or those involved in fraudulent streaming to generate revenue.

Deezer began tracking AI music volume in January 2025, when it represented just 10% of daily uploads (about 10,000 tracks). Since then, the share has steadily increased: to 18% (20,000 tracks) by April 2025, 28% (30,000) by September 2025, and 34% (50,000) by November 2025. In January 2026, AI music made up 39% (60,000 tracks), and by April 2026 it reached 44% (75,000 tracks).

Last year, Deezer started labeling AI-generated music on its platform. Its detection technology can also identify tracks created with models from Suno and Udio, startups involved in copyright lawsuits. Earlier this year, Deezer made its detection tool available to other platforms, though it is unclear if any major platforms are using it yet. Last month, the company also released a tool that can scan Apple Music and Spotify playlists for AI-generated tracks.

Streaming services have not reached a consensus on how to handle AI music. Bandcamp bans such tracks entirely, Tidal cuts off monetization, Apple Music has a voluntary AI-tagging system, and Spotify has developed its own policy regarding the use of AI in music creation.
