Dermatologist: Fillers Are Not a Thing of the Past — Approach Has Changed
Although social media suggests that fillers are outdated, dermatologist Agnese Ruskule says they remain relevant, but the goal has shifted from noticeable volume to natural, quality results.

Claims that fillers belong to the past are increasingly common on social media, along with statements that everyone now prefers a natural look and that the era of large lips is over. Dermatologist Agnese Ruskule, however, points out that the reality in aesthetic medicine is more nuanced. Botulinum toxin injections remain among the most demanded aesthetic procedures, and fillers have not lost their place either. What has changed is the approach – the goal is no longer to create striking changes, but to improve skin quality, achieve a corrective effect on the facial oval and allow a person to age naturally and beautifully.
A few years ago, much attention was devoted to adding volume to the face, especially the lips. Now the emphasis is on healthy, high-quality skin that remains beautiful in the long term. The dermatologist stresses that aesthetic medicine is a broad field because skin health is directly linked to the overall state of the body. There is no single miracle pill or product that will make the skin well-groomed. To look radiant, smooth and even-toned, the skin needs daily care, and it is also advisable to choose more intensive skincare procedures both at a cosmetologist and in a doctor’s office.
Instead of following the principle of “more”, today the guiding words are “better quality” and “smarter”. Botox has not lost its place – it is still one of the most sought-after solutions. At the same time, fillers are used differently than before: not to create obvious changes, but to correct facial features and improve the overall condition of the skin. According to the dermatologist, beauty cannot be separated from the general health of the body, so long-term results are ensured not only by procedures but also by everyday care for the skin and the body.
