A significant wildfire has broken out in the Var department of southeastern France, near the town of Les Arcs. The blaze has already spread across approximately 200 hectares, destroying several homes and vehicles. Firefighting aircraft and helicopters have been deployed to combat the fast-moving fire.

Authorities ordered evacuations in the areas of Cotignac and Sillans-la-Cascade, urging residents to leave threatened zones and avoid obstructing emergency operations. The extreme heat, with temperatures predicted to exceed 40°C according to Météo-France, is raising concerns that the fire could continue to spread. Euronews correspondents are reporting from the affected region.
