South Kurzeme to form business advisory council, calls for applicants
Municipality of South Kurzeme has approved regulations for a new Business Advisory Council and is inviting local entrepreneurs to apply from September 1 to 30.

The South Kurzeme municipal council has approved the statute for a newly established Business Advisory Council and opened the application process for candidates. The council is being created to support business development in the region and strengthen cooperation between the municipality and local entrepreneurs.
Advisory role and tasks
The new body will function as a consultative institution for the municipality, allowing entrepreneurs and representatives of business organizations to take part in discussions on regional development. Its responsibilities include contributing to development planning documents, identifying problems in the business environment and proposing solutions, assessing the impact of significant investment projects, and facilitating information exchange between businesses and the municipality.
Composition and sector representation
The council will have 11 voting seats, and the municipality aims to ensure representation across a range of sectors, including manufacturing, agriculture, fishing, crafts, home production, services and construction. Eligible candidates are entrepreneurs and representatives of business organizations operating within the South Kurzeme municipal territory. Membership will be voluntary and unpaid.
Application process
If the number of applicants exceeds the available seats, selection will take into account the number of employees, turnover, and professional achievements of each business. Applications will be reviewed by the municipality's Economic Affairs Committee, with the final council composition approved by the council. Applications are accepted from September 1 to 30, submitted electronically, via the state E-address system, or in person at municipal and state customer service centers.
