South Kurzeme volunteer firefighters receive 12 tanker trucks
The South Kurzeme municipality's volunteer firefighter association has received 12 tanker trucks handed over by the State Fire and Rescue Service after it renewed its own fleet. The vehicles will help provide faster response to fires and other emergencies across the municipality.
At the start of summer, the South Kurzeme municipality's volunteer firefighter association expanded its fleet with 12 tanker trucks. The vehicles were transferred to the municipality and the association after the State Fire and Rescue Service (VUGD) renewed its own vehicle fleet.
In total, the Ministry of the Interior and VUGD have handed over 48 tanker trucks to municipalities and volunteer firefighter associations across Latvia, with a portion of them going to South Kurzeme municipality. The tankers come equipped with the minimum equipment needed for firefighting work.
Faster response to incidents
The new vehicles will allow volunteer firefighters to respond more efficiently to fires and other incidents, providing help as close as possible to the scene. Volunteers carry out their work in close cooperation with VUGD, responding to calls alongside professional services when needed.
Volunteer firefighter duty in South Kurzeme municipality is maintained at 15 locations across the region — Grobiņa, Gaviezе, Otaņķi, Nīca, Durbe, Bārta, Rucava, Pāvilosta, Dunika, Vērgale, Vaiņode, Cīrava, Tadaiķi, Pape and Ziemupe.
The newly acquired equipment is considered a significant contribution to strengthening the municipality's fire safety system, improving the ability to quickly and effectively assist residents during emergencies.
