Disney Plus reportedly exploring a free streaming tier
According to a Business Insider report, Disney Plus is considering offering some content for free to compete with YouTube.

Disney Plus is reportedly considering making some of its content available for free, according to a Business Insider report citing a source. Adam Smith, Disney's chief product and technology officer, mentioned a free streaming tier during a company town hall on Thursday. It remains unclear which shows or movies would be included or when such a tier might launch, with the report noting it's part of "an ongoing discussion about concepts to better serve fans." Disney has not commented on the matter.
The move is seen as part of a broader effort to capture viewers' attention, especially as YouTube dominates TV screen time. Other streaming services like Netflix and HBO Max are also exploring new features. Disney Plus has already introduced vertical video feeds and always-on channels, with Netflix rumored to be testing similar concepts.
