Disney+ and Hulu subscription prices climb by up to 13 percent
Disney has raised prices across Disney+ and Hulu plans, with some tiers jumping 13 percent — Disney+'s fourth increase in four years.
The Walt Disney Company has again raised subscription prices for its Disney+ and Hulu streaming services, marking Disney+'s fourth price hike in four years.
The steepest increase hit the standalone, ad-free plans that support 4K and HDR: both Disney+ and Hulu rose 13 percent, from $19 to $21.50 per month. Plans that include ads saw a smaller bump, from $12 to $12.50 per month.
Bundle prices also rise
Bundle pricing shifted as well. The Disney+ and Hulu bundle without ads went from $20 to $22 per month, while the ad-supported version of that bundle held steady at $13.
Bigger changes hit packages that include ESPN. The Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN Select bundle with ads rose from $20 to $22, and the ad-free version jumped from $29 to $33. Hulu + Live TV, which adds internet-delivered cable channels to Hulu's on-demand library, also became $10 more expensive per month.
Now pricier than Netflix
By comparison, Netflix currently charges $9 per month for its ad-supported plan, with ad-free options starting at $20 and a $27 premium tier offering 4K. That means Disney+ and Hulu are now more expensive than the leading streaming service, unless subscribers specifically want 4K or HDR quality.
