Latvia's State Police has reported receiving two complaints from people who became victims of fraud after seeking help from so-called psychics online.

Both victims, hoping for spiritual guidance or a solution to personal problems, contacted individuals online who presented themselves as psychics. Trusting the promises made, the victims transferred money to these individuals — with the combined total across both cases reaching nearly €160,000.

Promised help never arrived

Despite the substantial payments made, neither victim received the assistance that had been promised. This led them to file complaints with the police regarding possible fraud.

The State Police has made the public aware of these cases, stressing the importance of caution when making payments to unfamiliar individuals online, particularly in situations where spiritual or psychic assistance is offered in exchange for money.
