President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced on Tuesday that the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has identified specific officials from the state defense concern Ukroboronprom who broke the law by allowing weapons and ammunition to be stored in warehouses located next to residential buildings in the town of Vyshneve, a suburb of Kyiv.

Speaking about the findings, Zelenskyy emphasized that such storage practices pose a direct threat to civilian safety and are unacceptable. The SBU investigation uncovered that these officials deliberately disregarded regulations by placing military ordnance in dangerous proximity to homes.

The president noted that identifying those responsible is the first step toward accountability. He stated that appropriate legal actions will be taken against the perpetrators.

This incident highlights ongoing challenges in managing military stockpiles in populated areas, a concern that has gained urgency during the war. Ukroboronprom, which oversees Ukraine's defense industry, has previously faced scrutiny over safety protocol compliance.

The SBU continues its investigation, and further details may emerge. Zelenskyy's remarks serve as a warning that violations of storage regulations will be met with consequences.
