Two Polish citizens have been charged with stealing money from car wash payment terminals and damaging property in four Lithuanian cities, prosecutors said.
Prosecutors announced on Tuesday that two Polish citizens have been charged with stealing money from car wash payment terminals and damaging property in four Lithuanian cities. According to law enforcement data, between February and March this year, the defendants broke into car wash cash storage units to steal funds. They allegedly gained access to coin collection terminals using metal shears and crowbars. After breaking into the self-service devices, the suspects allegedly stole 5,900 euros in Vilkaviškis, 2,156 euros in Jurbarkas, 3,593 euros in Ukmergė, and 33 euros in Kuršėnai. The individuals also allegedly attempted to rob a car wash in Šiauliai. Under the Criminal Code, the maximum penalty for theft of foreign property is six years in prison, while property destruction or damage carries a sentence of up to two years. The defendants are currently in custody.
