Prosecution is being proposed in Riga against officials of two companies suspected of avoiding tax payments. One company works in residential building management, the other in wholesale trade in scrap metal.

The officials are proposed to be charged with concealing the companies' true profit. This allowed them to evade payment of corporate income tax, which companies pay on the profit they earn, in the amount of €823,240.

Fictitious transactions with foreign firms

In value added tax (VAT) declarations, the officials had reported fictitious transactions with foreign companies. The available report does not give further details about the circumstances of the case, the people involved or the names of the companies.
