Diesel price tops two euros in all three Baltic capitals
Fuel prices in Riga, Vilnius and Tallinn mostly rose last week, with diesel now exceeding two euros per litre in every Baltic capital. Riga's diesel price was the sole exception, ticking down slightly.
Data compiled by the LETA news agency shows that fuel prices in Riga, Vilnius and Tallinn largely continued to climb last working week. The only decline was recorded for diesel in Riga, but increases elsewhere were steep enough that diesel now costs more than two euros per litre in all three Baltic capitals.
Petrol prices
By the end of the working week, the most expensive 95-octane petrol was in Riga, where a litre at the Circle K station on Krasta Street cost 1.978 euros, up 2.3% from a week earlier. Tallinn ranked second at 1.954 euros per litre after a 6.3% rise, while Vilnius had the cheapest petrol among the capitals at 1.939 euros per litre, despite recording the fastest weekly increase at 5.4%.
Diesel prices
Diesel was most expensive in Vilnius, reaching 2.179 euros per litre after a 5.8% increase. In Riga, diesel cost 2.078 euros per litre — the only price among those compared that fell during the week, dropping 0.3%. The cheapest diesel among the Baltic capitals was in Tallinn, though it too crossed the two-euro mark, reaching 2.039 euros per litre after a 9.1% rise, the steepest increase recorded.
Auto gas unchanged
Auto gas prices remained stable in all three capitals compared with the previous week. On Friday, auto gas cost 0.915 euros per litre in Riga, 0.968 euros in Tallinn, and 0.809 euros in Vilnius, the cheapest of the three.
