According to an informative report prepared by the Ministry of Economics and approved by the government on Tuesday, the average retail price of diesel fuel in Latvia reached 1.93 euros per liter in August.

That figure is 27 to 30 percent higher than in February, the period before the conflict in the Middle East began. The report uses this comparison to illustrate how significantly fuel prices in Latvia have risen since the conflict started.

The Ministry of Economics document provides an overview of the situation on the fuel market and how it has changed in recent months, linking the price increase to international events that have affected the global oil products market.

The government reviewed and approved the report during its regular Tuesday meeting, meaning the data on diesel price trends is now officially part of the materials available to the Cabinet.
