Fuel prices on 5 August: diesel and petrol at Neste Lielupe remain above March levels
On 5 August, diesel at the Neste Lielupe filling station costs EUR 1.817 per litre and 95 petrol costs EUR 1.737 per litre. Compared with 1 March, diesel is up by 28 cents and petrol by 20 cents per litre.

According to information published by iAuto.lv, on 5 August the price of diesel at the Neste Lielupe filling station is EUR 1.817 per litre, while 95 petrol is EUR 1.737 per litre. The price of oil on the global market is USD 75.6 per barrel that day.
Compared with 1 March 2026, diesel has become more expensive by 28 cents per litre and 95 petrol by 20 cents per litre. On 1 March, both fuels at the Neste Lielupe station cost EUR 1.537 per litre. The publication calculates that filling a 60-litre tank now costs EUR 16.80 more than on 1 March.
iAuto.lv attributes the rise in fuel prices to Israel's military action against Iran, which began with air strikes on 28 February. The conflict has pushed up fuel prices in Latvia and elsewhere.
At the same time, the excise duty on diesel has been temporarily reduced. From 1 April to 31 December 2026, the duty is 15.2% lower, or 7.1 cents per litre less. The rate has been cut from EUR 467 to EUR 396 per 1000 litres. This means that each litre currently includes 39.6 cents of oil excise tax.
