DJI unveils Osmo 360 II panoramic camera with swappable lenses
DJI has launched the Osmo 360 II panoramic action camera, offering faster video frame rates and replaceable lenses. It costs €589 in Europe but remains unavailable in the US.
Technology company DJI has released a new 360-degree action camera, the Osmo 360 II, just over a year after its predecessor debuted. The new model is designed to compete directly with its main rival, the Insta360 X6.
Key new feature
The most notable change is the ability to replace damaged lenses yourself using a kit DJI sells for €39, which includes tools, instructions and replacement seals. Previously, a damaged lens on the original Osmo 360 meant sending the whole camera back to the manufacturer for repair.
Image quality improvements
The camera can now record 8K video at 60 frames per second, the highest frame rate among 360-degree cameras, up from 50 fps on the previous model. Dynamic range has also improved, rising from 13.5 to 14.5 stops, alongside a new low-light noise-reduction algorithm designed to reduce motion blur in nighttime footage.
Battery and storage
The new 2,150mAh battery provides roughly 100 minutes of 8K video recording and charges from empty to full in 39 minutes, significantly faster than before. The camera includes 105GB of built-in storage and supports NFC tap-to-connect with smartphones.
Price and availability
The Osmo 360 II is priced at €589 in Europe, undercutting the Insta360 X6's €699 price tag. However, the camera remains unavailable in the United States, a significant drawback compared to its competitor. DJI's editing software is also still considered less developed than rival offerings.
