€60,000 available for resident initiatives in Dobele Municipality

The local government of Dobele Municipality has announced a participatory budgeting contest that allows residents to propose ideas for projects of public benefit. Submissions will be accepted from 4 August through 21 September, and a total of €60,000 has been allocated for this year's initiatives.

Any person aged 16 or older who is officially declared as a resident of Dobele Municipality is eligible to submit a project. The proposals must focus on initiatives that are significant for the community and contribute to the development of public infrastructure. The participatory budget will be implemented across four planning units, and within each unit the funding for a single project cannot exceed one quarter of the total available budget for the year.

Residents may submit an unlimited number of project ideas. To receive funding, a project will need to win the highest number of votes in the residents' ballot, secure at least 1,000 votes, and meet the criteria specified by the contest. Voting is open to individuals aged 16 and older who are registered as residents of the municipality, with each voter allowed to cast one vote per project.

Applications can be submitted electronically via the Geolatvija.lv website under the section titled “Participatory Budget”. An informational seminar on preparing applications is planned for 2 September.
