Interior minister refers possible violations in disaster management centre construction to prosecutors

Latvia's Interior Minister Jānis Dombrava (National Alliance) has referred a case involving possible violations in the construction of several disaster management centres to the Prosecutor General's Office, the Interior Ministry has announced.
According to the ministry, a review of how these construction projects were carried out revealed several signs pointing to possible mismanagement, along with risks that violations may have occurred during the building process.
Referral to prosecutors
Given the nature of what was found, the minister decided an independent assessment was needed. He therefore passed the information available to him on to the Prosecutor General's Office, meaning further investigation and legal evaluation will now be carried out by prosecutors rather than the ministry itself.
Official suspended
In connection with the findings, one official has been suspended from their duties, though the ministry's statement did not provide further details about this person's identity or their specific role in the projects.
