Drone strikes Kapotnya refinery for second time in three days, eroding Moscow's sense of security
A Ukrainian drone attacked the Kapotnya oil refinery near Moscow for the second time in three days, with the SBU stating that the capital's feeling of safety is fading.
On the 1,576th day of the Russo-Ukrainian war, a drone strike targeted the Kapotnya oil refinery, located just 15 kilometers from the Kremlin. The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) confirmed the attack, noting that it was the second such strike on the facility within three days.
According to the SBU, the drone attack caused explosions at the refinery, highlighting that Moscow is no longer the safe haven it once seemed. The unit emphasized that the capital's sense of security is eroding as Ukrainian forces demonstrate their ability to hit targets deep inside Russian territory.
The Kapotnya refinery is a key fuel supplier for the Moscow region, and the repeated strikes could disrupt fuel supplies in the capital. Russian authorities have not yet issued an official statement regarding the incident.
This attack is part of a broader pattern of Ukrainian drone operations targeting Russian energy infrastructure far from the front lines. Military analysts suggest that these strikes aim to weaken Russia's logistical capabilities and undermine public confidence in the Kremlin's ability to protect its core territory.
