Overnight into September 26, drones attacked the Ilsky oil refinery in Russia's Krasnodar region, triggering a fire on the facility's grounds, according to Ukrainian media citing the monitoring sources ASTRA and Exilenova+.
According to available reports, the attack began around midnight. Residents of Krasnodar confirmed hearing explosions in the city and reported that air defense systems were active. Word of the refinery fire emerged shortly after.
About the refinery
Witnesses said the facility on fire is the A. A. Shamara Ilsky oil refinery, located in the settlement of the same name in the Seversky district, roughly 50 kilometers from Krasnodar. The plant has a processing capacity of about 6.6 million tonnes of oil per year and ranks among the leading oil refining enterprises in southern Russia. Its output is reportedly used, among other things, to supply Russian military forces. The refinery receives crude oil through the pipeline network operated by Transneft.
There has so far been no official confirmation of the incident.
Previous attacks
Overnight into September 25, explosions were also reported in the Russian cities of Ulyanovsk and Perm, where a factory and an oil refinery came under attack.
