On June 24, the final performance of the Latvian Youth Theatre's production 'Skroderdienas Silmačos' took place at 'Silmači' in Druviena. This show also served as a celebration for actor Jānis Skanis' 75th birthday. President Edgars Rinkēvičs was present at the event.
The production was created as the culmination of the anniversary benefit, fulfilling Jānis Skanis' dream to once again play the role of Ābrams in Druviena. Director Laila Kirmuška, together with a creative team and an ensemble of actors, worked on this staging.
Producer Juris Millers highlighted several significant anniversaries this year: 125 years since Rūdolfs Blaumanis wrote the play, 40 years since the first outdoor performance in Druviena, and 75 years since the birth of actor Jānis Skanis. Director Laila Kirmuška added that the production paid special attention not only to humor but also to the characters' relationships and emotions.
At the end of the performance, Jānis Skanis was greeted by the audience and choirs. The chair of Gulbene Municipality Council, Normunds Mazūrs, presented the actor with a symbolic gift – a barrel of beer.
