DTEK explains why emergency power outages are cancelled and reinstated several times a day
DTEK, Ukraine's largest private energy company, says emergency outages change often because of constant attacks on the power system. About 20 strikes were recorded yesterday alone.

DTEK, the largest private energy company in Ukraine, has explained why emergency power outages are lifted and then reintroduced, sometimes several times in a single day. The explanation came from the company's press service. It matters to residents because the outage situation can currently shift very quickly.
Constant attacks on the grid
According to DTEK, the main reason is the continuing attacks on Ukraine's energy system. The company said there were about 20 strikes just yesterday.
As a result, conditions can change very fast, at times even several times within an hour.
Balancing in real time
DTEK dispatchers have to balance the power system in real time. The aim is to prevent major accidents and a complete loss of electricity. This is why emergency outages are introduced and cancelled so frequently.
Situation in Kyiv
In Kyiv, the Ukrainian capital, emergency outages could not be lifted at any point during 4 November. At around 14:00, the city and the surrounding oblast returned to scheduled outages, those carried out according to a previously published timetable.
