Duo “Elpo” Releases New Music Video and Announces First Solo Concert at Palladium
Latvian electronic music duo “Elpo” has released a video for the song “Labrīt” and announced its first solo concert, to be held on 2 April at the Palladium concert hall.
Latvian electronic music duo “Elpo” has released a new music video for the song “Labrīt” (“Good Morning”). Alongside the premiere, the musicians announced their first solo concert, which will take place on 2 April at the Palladium concert hall.
According to the duo, the video uses an emotional story to show the importance of human relationships and of support from those around us.
What the song is about
The musicians explain that “Labrīt” is dedicated to people who help others climb out of moments of doubt, when one cannot untangle one's own thoughts but someone from the outside notices. The duo drew inspiration not so much from personal experience as from partnerships they observed around them, selfless presence and the support people give one another in difficult times.
Making the video
The video was made in collaboration with Renārs Tukris and Roberts Samušs of “Uzbur Production”. Amanda Bašmakova, the duo's vocalist, moves in slow motion down a corridor while other people's everyday lives go on behind her. It was shot at the “Provodņiks” creative quarter in a single continuous take.
Amanda says the aim was to portray the loneliness of struggling with one's own thoughts and not wanting to burden others with emotional baggage. She describes it as a tunnel-like feeling in which one fails to notice the life going on around and avoids confrontation, hoping the inner turmoil will pass.
The solo concert
The duo released its debut album “Brīvību meklējot” (“Seeking Freedom”) in February this year and performed in various Latvian towns and cities. The next step is its first solo concert at Palladium, featuring songs listeners already know alongside previously unheard music.
The musicians say they are pleased with the past summer and the chance to meet listeners in different cities. They look forward to meeting audiences in person to perform their music and present new songs.
