Dyson, known for its premium home appliances and beauty devices, has presented a new product aimed at dental care: the "Dyson CameraJet" electric toothbrush. The device features a built-in camera that monitors the spaces between teeth during brushing, while an AI system identifies these gaps and directs a stream of liquid toward them. The manufacturer states the camera can analyze 28 images per second.

Essentially, the device combines two functions — an electric toothbrush and an irrigator-like liquid jet system. Dyson positions it as a solution for people seeking a more effective and technologically advanced approach to oral care.

Price sparks debate

The new toothbrush costs approximately €500, a sum many consider substantial for a daily hygiene item. The product has already drawn attention in Latvia, with a discussion unfolding on the social network Threads. Some users joked about the price and about Dyson products becoming a kind of status symbol, while others expressed genuine interest in buying the device.

Comments included jokes about the camera feature, as well as more serious questions — whether the camera can function properly when exposed to toothpaste and liquid, and how practical the device will be in daily use, given that many people tend to press toothbrushes against their teeth too hard.

This is not the first time Dyson has tried to convince buyers to pay a premium for a high-tech version of an everyday household item. The company took a similar approach in 2018 with its hair-styling device, the Airwrap, which went on to become one of its best-known products.
