Justin Baldoni speaks publicly about Blake Lively lawsuit for the first time
Actor Justin Baldoni released a video statement addressing the legal battle with his 'It Ends With Us' co-star Blake Lively, describing the experience as painful and unjust.
Justin Baldoni has broken his silence on the legal dispute with Blake Lively, posting a five-minute video on Instagram alongside his wife Emily. In the video, Baldoni spoke of the "injustice and pain" the couple endured during the year-long legal battle with his co-star from "It Ends With Us".
"We have not spoken publicly for the better part of the last two years, and it’s not because we haven’t had anything to say, because Lord knows we have," Baldoni said. "But … it just didn’t feel like the right time." He added that the experience taught them the importance of friends, family and faith: "Gratitude has saved us."
The legal fight ended on May 4 when both parties agreed to settle Lively's lawsuit for breach of contract, retaliation and aiding and abetting in retaliation. The settlement avoided a trial.
In late June, Lively filed for more than $8 million in legal fees from Baldoni and his studio. Baldoni has until July 13 to challenge the claim or pay the amount.
Emily Baldoni said the couple had to grapple with many things, including trauma as a family. "There is so much more to say," she indicated, adding that they would focus on healing and spending time with their children for now.
Baldoni thanked supporters who stood by them: "You have given your time to fight for us. And thank you does not feel like enough."
