Dzhavadov on his kickboxing journey: first steps taken in a smoky nightclub

In a video interview published by Apollo.lv, Latvian kickboxer Zaurs Dzhavadov speaks openly about his path in sport. In the ring or the cage, spectators are used to seeing him as militant and aggressive, with a single goal — to destroy the opponent in front of him. Outside competition, however, Dzhavadov is a calm family man: a husband, father and coach who has fallen in love with his sport and wants both his own name and Latvia’s to be heard around the world.

Talking about the beginning of his career, Dzhavadov reveals that he did not enter kickboxing through the usual route — his first steps in the sport were taken in a smoky nightclub. According to him, this unusual start determined the rest of his life, bringing both success and trials.

During the conversation, the athlete openly describes the reality of kickboxing, which is often different from what spectators see from the sidelines. Dzhavadov acknowledges the difficulties he has experienced, but stresses that, despite all of them, he would not change anything about his choice.
