Poetic "murmuring" mornings on Pleikšņi Hill becoming a Rēzekne region tradition
For the third year running, Rēzekne region's Poetry Days included so-called musical-poetic breakfasts, or "murmuring," on Pleikšņi Hill. The September 12 gathering brought together local residents and poetry lovers.
For the third consecutive year, a modest but growing tradition unfolded in the Rēzekne region as part of this year's Poetry Days. On Saturday, September 12, Pleikšņi Hill briefly became a gathering place for what locals call "murmuring" — musical-poetic breakfasts that pair the aroma of coffee and fresh pastries with performances meant to feed the soul.
The format combines a relaxed outdoor breakfast with poetry readings and music, giving attendees both a literal treat and a cultural one at the same time, set against the natural surroundings of the hill.
Since its start three years ago, the gathering on Pleikšņi Hill has become a fixed part of the region's Poetry Days programme, drawing local residents and poetry enthusiasts to the site each September.
Poetry Days are marked across Latvia every September with a variety of literary events. The Pleikšņi Hill gathering stands out for its informal, nature-based setting, which blends an everyday ritual — morning coffee — with a cultural experience.
