Veteran forward Edin Dzeko, 40, played his farewell match for Bosnia and Herzegovina on Saturday as his side drew 1-1 at home to Sweden in Zenica, bringing his international career to a close after 152 caps.

Dzeko thought he had scored before half-time, but the goal was ruled out after the ball had gone out of play during the move leading up to it. Eleven minutes into the match, fireworks were set off in tribute to his number 11 shirt, and when he was taken off in the 62nd minute, he received a standing ovation from the home crowd.

Following the final whistle, the stadium hosted a tribute ceremony featuring a guard of honour and a drone display spelling out messages of gratitude to the striker. Supporters threw soft toys onto the pitch as Dzeko completed a farewell lap.

On the pitch, Arsenal forward Viktor Gyokeres gave Sweden the lead, before Kerim Alajbegovic struck the equaliser for the hosts.

Other results

In Group A1, Belgium secured a 3-0 win over Turkey, with Napoli midfielder Kevin de Bruyne, 35, scoring twice and Romelu Lukaku adding a third. The win lifted Belgium into second place in the group.

Elsewhere, Hungary beat Georgia 1-0 in Budapest thanks to a goal from Liverpool's Milos Kerkez — their first Nations League win of the campaign. The result leaves Hungary third in Group B2, three points behind group leaders Northern Ireland.
