Latvian Railway Infrastructure Placed in Survival Mode
Due to a decline in freight traffic, Latvia's railway infrastructure will be maintained at a minimal level to prevent collapse and avoid higher restoration costs later.

After a meeting of the Ports, Transit and Logistics Council, the government delivered a harsh assessment of the sector's situation. This means investments will be kept to a minimum—just enough to prevent the infrastructure from collapsing and to avoid even higher costs for restoration in the future. This decision highlights the serious challenges facing the railway industry.
