Drunk Driver in Riga Causes Accident, Flees Police and Crashes into Tree
On Saturday morning in Riga, a Volvo XC90 driver fled after a collision, later evaded police and crashed into a tree. The man was under the influence of alcohol.

On Saturday at 6:16 AM, a driver of a Volvo XC90 SUV collided with another car on Brīvības Street in Riga and then left the scene, violating traffic regulations.
Later, State Police officers spotted the SUV in the Pārdaugava district. The driver's erratic driving and the vehicle's damage drew their attention. When officers signaled the driver to stop, he did not comply and began to flee. The pursuit took place on Daugavgrīvas Street, and shortly after, the vehicle crashed into a tree.
The man was detained and placed in an isolation cell. Tests confirmed he was driving under the influence of alcohol. Witness video shows the Volvo with its rear bumper torn off.
