Singer Ieva Sutugova on balancing a career with raising children
Latvian singer Ieva Sutugova has shared her experience of combining a music career with family duties. The presentation of her debut album “Stāsti” will take place on the evening of 21 February at the “Daile” music venue.
Latvian singer Ieva Sutugova has explained how she manages to combine a musical career with raising her children. Her everyday life is full: the show “Izklausies redzēts”, rehearsals, concerts and family responsibilities. Sometimes the children have to come along to work as well.
Children at rehearsals
Sutugova admits that she tries to bring the children to rehearsals as rarely as possible. However, there is not always another option, and then she has to accept that the little ones will want their mother's attention. Over time, she says, the children become more patient and better understand that mum sometimes has to work.
Advice for other mothers
Asked for her main advice to mothers who want to manage both work and family life, she stresses that it is important not to get stuck in self-pity and not to blame circumstances. Sutugova is convinced that one should do what one truly wants to do, because with diligent work and careful planning everything can be accomplished.
