Remembering songwriter Haralds Sīmanis — he would have turned 75 this year
Songwriter Haralds Sīmanis, known for his unique voice and energy, would have celebrated his 75th birthday this June. His fellow musician Arnis Miltiņš shares memories of him.

Haralds Sīmanis, a Latvian bard with a powerful and recognizable voice, would have turned 75 this June. Although he is no longer with us, music lovers still remember his unique performances and presence.
Musician Arnis Miltiņš, who knew Sīmanis as a colleague in the craft, reveals that they never performed on the same stage nor had many conversations. However, Miltiņš emphasizes that being around Sīmanis made him stay quiet and observe, enjoying the energy of being together. Afterwards, he sometimes regretted not engaging in conversation, but in the moment, he simply savored the presence.
Sīmanis's voice and songs continue to live on, and this memorial day is an opportunity to remember his contribution to Latvian music.
