Djokovic beats Wu in Wimbledon first round

World No. 8 Novak Djokovic of Serbia played his first official match since a five-hour third-round clash at the French Open, overcoming China's top tennis player Yibing Wu (ATP 102, career-high 54) 6:4, 5:7, 6:4, 6:4 at Wimbledon on Saturday.

Djokovic was the heavy favorite, with bookmakers offering odds of 1.06 on his victory. The match lasted three hours and 12 minutes. The Serbian took the first set 6:4, but Wu responded by winning the second set 7:5. Djokovic regained control and closed out the next two sets 6:4, 6:4.

In the fourth set, Djokovic saved break points at 15-40 and 0-40 before breaking Wu in the penultimate game.
