Reigning Commonwealth Games heptathlon champion Katarina Johnson-Thompson is among 63 athletes named on the England team for next month's Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, which run from 23 July to 2 August. The team selection adds to a 20-strong Para-athlete contingent announced in April.

However, Olympic 800m champion Keely Hodgkinson is not part of the squad. The 24-year-old had previously indicated she would focus on the European Championships in Birmingham from 10-16 August, after pulling out of the 400m final at the UK Athletics Championships in June due to a muscle twinge.

Johnson-Thompson, aiming for a third consecutive gold after wins in 2018 and 2022, will be joined in the heptathlon by Birmingham 2022 bronze medallist Jade O'Dowda and debutant Ellen Barber.

In the 100m, World Championship 200m silver medallist Amy Hunt will compete alongside Daryll Neita and Imani-Lara Lansiquot. Neita and Lansiquot also hope to defend England's 4x100m title from 2022, which was awarded after Nigeria's disqualification for an anti-doping violation. The relay squad includes Dina Asher-Smith, Aleeya Sibbons, and Success Eduan, who will also race individually in the 200m.

World Championship 800m silver medallist Georgia Hunter Bell will run the 800m, while long jumper Jazmin Sawyers has been selected for her fourth Commonwealth Games.

British record holder Zharnel Hughes looks to upgrade his 200m silver from four years ago and bid for a third consecutive gold in the 4x100m relay alongside Nethaneel Mitchell-Blake, Jona Efoloko, Elliot Jones, and Romell Glave.

Birmingham bronze medallists Ben Pattison (800m) and Scott Lincoln (shot put) will aim to add to their medals, while high jumper Kimani Jack makes his Commonwealth debut after setting a world-leading outdoor height of 2.31m this season.
