George North to Play Final Game Against Wales
Wales rugby legend George North will play his last professional match on Saturday, featuring for the Barbarians against Wales.

Last Dance for George North
The 34-year-old George North, who announced his retirement in April, will take the field this weekend for the Barbarians against Wales in his final professional game. The match will be held at Allianz Stadium, Twickenham on Saturday.
North admitted it was difficult explaining to his two sons, Jac and Tomi, that he would be playing against Wales instead of for them. He hopes to quickly get hold of small Barbarians jerseys for them.
Career Highlights
North scored 47 tries in 121 internationals for Wales, helping them win four Six Nations titles and two Grand Slams, and reach two World Cup semi-finals. He made his debut in 2010 as an 18-year-old, scoring two tries against South Africa. He also toured with the British and Irish Lions in 2013 and 2017.
His international career ended in 2024 after an Achilles rupture during a Six Nations match against Italy. He left the field on crutches and was sidelined for nearly 10 months.
A Proper Farewell
North called the Barbarians opportunity a dream come true. "It's put a smile on my face," he said. "I got the phone call asking if I fancied it, and I am so excited. It's always been a dream to play for the Barbarians, so to be invited now, for a game at Twickenham against Wales, is incredible."
He added that he wants to be remembered as someone who gave his all, loved every second, and did it with a smile. Similar farewells were held for Alun Wyn Jones and Justin Tipuric in 2023.
